Mike Anderson

In 2014 Anderson Motorsport, with Mike Anderson at the wheel, is to compete in the National Spanish hillclimb championship, one of the most competitive hillclimb championships in Europe.

The team is made up of the driver, Mike and a support crew of one team mechanic, Neil Moreton who has a long background of Motorsport competition car knowledge as a skilled and qualified mechanic along with on event support from various mechanics located in Spain and on occasion the UK. Ginetta Cars will be monitoring the championship closely and will provide whatever technical support deemed necessary.

The car itself is very highly developed and all data can be downloaded and monitored over the web by the technicians at Ginetta in the UK. The car actually differs quite dramatically from those proven on the circuits, in that it is geared to much a much lower high speed to improve acceleration over short distances, it has much improved power and power to weight ratios being much lighter. It has greater suspension travel and a different differential to increase grip and power delivery to the road.

The roads used are considered legendary amongst those who compete and the competition is the toughest there is throughout Europe.

There are 8 rounds in the championship commencing in April 2014

The first is the Subida Ubrique – a 4.45 km run setting off from the town of Ubrique within the National Park area of Andalusia climbing to a village at the top of the hill called Benacaoz. The road initially is very fast for the first 1.5 km before it turns hard right onto a tighter section of road for the remainder of the run which rises to some ….m above sea level. I have competed on this event 4 times over the last 3 years with some good results and as such I am hopeful of a strong and good result on this first event.

The remaining 7 events in the calendar are spread throughout the rest of Spain, one in Portugal and two in the Canary Islands (Tenerife and Grand Canaria).

The events which are likely to make up the calendar are:

• Subida A Ubrique (Ubrique) – www.escuderiaubrique.es
